The Food and Drug Administration has upgraded December withdrawal of some products covered by chocolate and yogurt by Cal Yee Farm at the highest level of severity.
The body has warned potentially serious or even deadly consequences for consuming products for those who have allergy or sensitivity to almonds, milk, sesame, soy, wheat and synthetic FD & C no. 6.
Suisun Valley’s Cal Yee Farm, California, began voluntarily reminding some of its products on December 12 because they were incorrect and contained not listed in their packages.
No diseases have been reported. The recall began after an inspection of the FDA of the Cal Yee Farm production plant.
Products subject to higher level recall include: some black chocolate almond packages, black chocolate apricots, black chocolate raisins and black chocolate nuts. Some packages of the New Orleans Hot Mix, Cajun Sesame’s hot sticks, the tropical mixture of trails and almonds coated yogurt were also affected.
Products were sold with Cal Yee or Cal Yee Farm brands.
Cal Yee Farm said that the affected products were sold to two retail stores, in the Suisun Valley, California, and Placeerville, California. And through online and telephone orders in Arizona, California, New Mexico, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
The company said that customers with these allergies and sensitivities that bought the affected products should not eat them. It recommended that you throw them away or return them to Cal Yee Farm for a full refund. He said the problem of labeling has been determined since then.
The FDA has three registrations for recall, and this week’s reconstruction or update is a typical part of the process, according to the organization.
Category I, the most serious notice assigned to Cal Yee, is “a situation in which there is a reasonable possibility that use or exposure to a violated product will cause serious adverse effects on health or death,” the organization said.
The law on the labeling and protection of consumers of food allergen in 2004 identifies milk as one of the eight large food allergens. Others are crustacean shellfish, eggs, fish, peanuts, soybeans, tree nuts and wheat.
