A former Walt Disney World employee, who violated the menus used by his restaurants and processed them – changing prices, adding stupidity and allergens change – was sentenced to three years in prison by a federal judge in Florida this week.
None of the changes, including fake information on food allergens that could be harmful to visitors, have ever appeared before the public, according to court records. The menu changes were arrested and the court records show that none of the changes have ever reached the printing stage.
Former employee Michael Scheuer of Winter Garden, Fla., Was sentenced to Federal Court in Orlando, Florida on Wednesday after admitting his guilt in January in a count of fraud on the computer and an aggressive identity theft number.
Mr Scheuer, 40, was ordered to pay a refund of about $ 620,000 to Disney and $ 70,000 to the unrecognized software company that provides Disney menu creation program.
While the court documents do not report Disney World, the menus proven in the case of Mr Scheuer come from the hundreds of Walt Disney World restaurants in Orlando.
Disney World representatives did not respond to messages looking for comments.
In early June 2024, Mr Scheuer returned from the paternity license, court documents show. A few days later, he had an argument with a supervisor to create menu, according to documents, and was told he would be suspended.
Instead, the documents were dismissed for an indefinite infringement.
A survey by the Federal Investigation Office later revealed that, starting at that time and over about three months, there were multiple hacks on servers who hosted the menu creation program.
These changes included price cuts or hiking of some dollars, bombs and allergens change to certain elements.
In a drink called “Giddy-Up”-a mixture of vodka, lemonade and frozen tea-reached the price by $ 2, according to court files and took two ounces from a 10-ounce fillet. In another case, the “shellfish” changed to “Hellfish”.
In some menus, either the prices or the descriptions of the objects disappeared.
It changes an area of wine-golden, colo.-in the position of a mass shooting, Aurora, Colo. He also worked on “famous goose”-high quality imported wine from New Zealand-in “Infamous Moose”.
Most importantly, Mr Scheuer processed certain menus elements, falsely showing that they were safe for people with pistachios, tree nuts, shellfish and milk, according to his agreement.
Prosecutors said that “the distinctive way these changes were made was possible by design, especially to avoid detection”.
But Mr Scheuer’s lawyer, David Haas, said his client was only trying to get Disney’s attention to respond to him.
“He knew that menus changes would be identified in the Disney Disney review process,” Mr Haas said in a judicial document.
Disney had indeed noticed and had come into contact with the FBI, identifying Mr Scheuer as a possible suspect. In September, the FBI executed a research order at Mr Scheuer’s home and occupied several electronic devices.
The criminal complaint also shows that Mr Scheuer is blocking 14 Disney employees from their company accounts through denial attacks. Some of the targeted workers were former colleagues who participated in his firing, according to court records.
In one case, Mr Scheuer drove the home of one of the targeted employees shortly before 11pm, walked to the front door and gave a thumb to the Rings camera before leaving, showing the court records.
Gregory W. Kehoe, the US midterm lawyer for the middle part of Florida, said Mr Scheuer’s actions were at least in part in a mental health episode. Prosecutors requested a 70 -month sentence.
Mr Haas said in an interview on Friday that “Mr Scheuer remains frustrated and apologetic to his former colleagues”, adding that he was grateful to the judge for only 36 months sentence.
