Trump threatened China with even larger invoices
President Trump said yesterday told China to cancel her confrontation in the US or face additional 50 percent invoices that will start tomorrow. The threat came as countries around the world were trying to attract the president to have abrupt prices.
Added invoices would bring the total taxes the Trump has imposed on Chinese imports since it entered 104 %.
Asia: Bangladesh and Vietnam have asked Trump to delay the imposition of invoices, while the Philippines offered to reduce invoices in US goods. South Korea and Japan said they wanted to talk to Trump’s administration.
Europe: EU officials are adopting a two-part approach, offering to reduce invoices in US cars-which Trump later told reporters were not good enough-and industrial products, even when preparing to react with wide taxes. Representatives from the block are expected to vote tomorrow in a list of products that intend to target invoices.
Trump announced talks with Iran
Trump said yesterday that the United States would hold talks with Iran on Saturday about Reining on its nuclear program. He warned that if the meeting failed to perform a significant discovery, “Iran is to be at great risk”.
Face to face talks in a non -announced location would be the first such meeting between the US and Iran since the 2015 nuclear deal was completed. Trump did not clarify who would conduct the negotiations, but said it would be “high level”.
Speaking to the Oval Office after meeting with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump said a new nuclear deal with Iran would be “stronger” than the previous deal.
Context: Trump left the previous nuclear deal in 2018, although Iran brought 97 % of its nuclear material from the country. Iran has rebuilt its capacity and today produces near the celestial bomb.
Does a truce of the Black Sea benefit Ukraine?
My colleague Constant Méheut last week joined the Ukrainian Navy on a patrol mission to the Black Sea, where Russia’s forces have been ruled far enough so that commercial shipping can return to almost pre -war levels.
Constant wanted to know how naval officers and business owners at ODESA saw a black sea truce – which Kiev and Moscow agreed to negotiate last month – if Ukraine already has the upper hand in these water. Many rejected the idea. Some expressed their doubts.
“For me, nothing changes,” one captain said. “He struggles as usual.”
Russia: About 800,000 Russians left their country after the invasion of Ukraine. A peace deal may not be enough to bring them back home.
