A Maryland family is looking for answers to the death of a 23 -year -old man whose body was found on a beach in the Bahamas, where they had a vacation.
The man, Dinari Mcalmont of Bowie, MD., Was found dead on Saturday morning near the Atlantis Bahamas resort on the island of Paradise, where he stayed with his parents, according to his family.
Mr Mcalmont’s mother, Michelle Mcalmont, told Eyewitness News, a Bahamian News Outlet, that when her authorities showed a photo of her son’s face, she was clearly beaten. “He was injured,” he added.
His hair, which he got particularly pride, was also full of sand, he suggested, he said, he might have been beaten on the beach.
“I need justice for my baby,” he said. “I need justice. That would never be how he would have done himself. “
The Bahamas Police Power said in a statement on Wednesday that posthumous examination was carried out and the physician’s findings revealed that Mr Mcalmont died “as a result of the drowning”.
Police were waiting for the results of forensic toxicology and investigations continued, police said. “This is what the Foul Play is not suspicious right now,” the police said.
Shanta Knowles, the Basilica Bahamas Police Commissioner, told News Eyewitness News on Tuesday: “We will surely do our best to get answers.”
Police, who did not respond to requests for information on Wednesday, did not confirm whether there were signs of trauma or violence to Mr Mcalmont’s body.
The US Foreign Ministry confirmed on Wednesday the death of an American citizen in the Bahamas, but refused further comments, citing respect for the family privacy.
The Atlantis resort said in a statement that it was “deeply sad from the passage of one of our guests”.
“Our thoughts and condolences are with the family’s family and loved ones during this difficult period,” he said. “Police are investigating this tragic incident. We are waiting for the final police report and we will not comment on speculation.”
In an interview on Wednesday, Mrs Mcalmont said the family had traveled to the resort on Friday and had been scheduled to return on Monday.
Mrs Mcalmont said that at about 8:45 pm On Friday, her son wrote her that she was going for a stroll around the resort. He said he then wrote her again at 10 pm To say he was going to a restaurant in the resort, he said.
At about 12:30 am, she did not respond to her text asking where she was, she said.
On the 1st am On Saturday, she said, the police called her to the reception and told her that her son had inflated to restaurant workers and that there was a dispute. Police, she said, told her her son’s phone had been found after she was throwing it while running into the resort.
She said her son’s body was found at about 5am. Saturday.
Police did not confirm whether there was a dispute in the restaurant and they did not say whether Mr Mcalmont’s phone was found after his fall.
Mrs Mcalmont said it would be out of character for her son to spit on anyone and believes she might have been beaten while someone tried to rob him from his phone.
She said she wanted the police to conduct a “complete investigation” of her son’s death, which would include a review of the resort security camera material and interviews with staff members. He said he also hires a lawyer to push for answers.
“I hope they come with the truth,” Mrs Mcalmont said on Wednesday before the police said her son had drowned. “The truth lies in the resort.”
Mr Mcalmont’s aunt Marcelle McPherson said in an interview that her nephew was a “very excluded” and “love child” who enjoyed basketball and music.
He had worked as a sound engineer and music producer, known as Diddy at Lowcation Studios in Brentwood, MD., Which gave him a tribute to Instagram.
“Diddy was more than a mechanic for us. He was a great friend and one around the incredible person,” he said, adding: “It is difficult to imagine life in general and life in the studio without him.”
