Health Minister Robert F. Kennedy Jr. He announced on Wednesday that the Trump administration had adopted a set of official government “sexual definitions” to give public and federal organizations accurate terms in which they describe categories such as “male”, “women,” “woman” and “man”.
Definitions are listed in a “guidance” of a page that aims, in part, to maintain women’s women and girls by female sports, discouraging the care confirmed by young people and fulfilling President Trump’s promise that Federal government will only recognize only two sexes: male and female.
“This administration brings back common sense and restores biological truth to the federal government,” Mr Kennedy said in a statement. “The policy of the previous administration trying to design gender ideology in every aspect of public life is over.”
A male is defined under guidance as “sex person characterized by a reproductive system with the biological function of sperm production”. A female is “a sex person characterized by a reproductive system with the biological function of egg production (OVA)”.
But many medical experts, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, recognize that not everyone fits into neat categories of men and women. Some people are intersex and have sexual anatomy or chromosomes that do not match the typical definitions of males and women.
Some children are neither identified with gender nor identified with a sex that does not correspond to their biological sex. The Academy has published its own set of definitions that include transsexual youth, described as “a subset of gender youth, whose gender identity does not match their sexual sex”.
As part of the Trump Administration Initiative, the Department of Health and Human Services launched a new website for the Federal Women’s Health Office, whose portfolio includes the reproductive health, parent and behavioral health of women.
The new page, entitled “Protection of Women and Children”, features a video with Riley Gaines, conservative activist and former Kentak university for the American swimmer who says he was raised in a competitive disadvantage when competing with a transsexual woman.
The page is linked to guidance and definitions. “Recognizing the unchanged and biological nature of the sex is essential to ensure the protection of health, safety, private spaces, sports and opportunities of women, adding that the movement was” critical for scientific research, public security , moral and trust in the government itself. ”
Mr Kennedy’s announcement responded to an executive mandate that Mr Trump issued on January 20, which gave the Health Department 30 days to issue “clear guidance” to the public about how to interpret gender -based definitions.
On Tuesday, Mr. Kennedy gave a welcome address to the department’s employees, who stated that his delegation would work to help Americans “discover our own paths to live our fullest life, releasing the possibilities to everyone. We make good personal choices that we are allowed to nourish, heal and develop ourselves.
On Wednesday, opponents of Trump’s administration and Mr Kennedy rally outside the offices of the Ministry of Health and Human Services to protest job cuts that have been free from the Department and the Organizations of Thousands of Employees, including upgraded new scientists.
As a presidential candidate, Mr Kennedy, who once measured himself democratic, did not make the rights of transsexuals a central part of his political face. He once said that it was not between “the issues that really matter to you, to me, to our children”.
But it has also made it clear that Mr Trump’s lead will follow. He has said that he favors the prohibition of sex -confirmed care, including adolescence and hormonal therapy for minors. It has also made unfounded allegations, based on a frog study, that chemical atrazine in drinking water causes sexual discomfort in children.
Supporters of transsexual rights invited Mr Kennedy’s candidate for the Secretary of Health “particularly worrying”. In a statement opposed to his confirmation, the group’s Sinead Murano-Kinney supports the transaction of trans entrepreneurized Mr. Kennedy “a conspiracy figure, a yes-man, allowing the worst impulses of a president with a clear agenda to remove humans from people the public life. “
The Conservatives requested Wednesday’s announcement. “It took many years of effort, but we are finally returning to science and common sense,” said Roger Severino, who wrote the Health Department of the Project Plan of the Foundation 2025 to revise the federal government.
There are about 1.6 million young and adults in the United States they recognize as a transgender, according to the Williams Institute’s estimate at the UCLA Law School. Mr Trump’s predecessor, President Joseph R. Biden Jr., made the protection of the transsexuals of people a cornerstone of federal policy.
Mr Biden’s assistant secretary, Dr. Rachel Levine, a pediatrician, made the story, making the first person of transsexual to be confirmed by the Senate in a federal position.
Mr Trump quickly reversed the policies of the Biden administration. He has followed his executive mandate on January 20 with a series of others aimed at removing transsexual rights in almost every corner of American life – including schools, hospitals, prisons, army and housing.
Critics have opposed not only the essence of the orders, but in their harsh language. The ordeal of taxpayers’ dollars from funding medical interventions for transsexual children is in charge of “protecting children from chemical and surgical amputation”.
Government agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which are under the health department, were ordered to delete any language that mentions “gender ideology” from their websites. A judge has ordered since the CDC page is restored. Some are still down.
Other sites – including the risk monitoring system for CDC youth – are now leaving responsibilities.
“This page does not reflect the biological reality and therefore the administration and this department rejects it,” says the disclaimer, adding that the information presented is “extremely inaccurate”.
