“We still live in fear”: Escaping the attacks in Lebanon
Tens of thousands of people have been displaced in Lebanon. Khaled Hussein, 20, fled Syria as a child. He describes the bombing that forced his family to flee again.

Khaled Hussein shot this video from his home near the Lebanese city of Nabatiyeh. It shows an Israeli airstrike striking just a few hundred meters away and hiding here at the base. As the shelling continued, Khaled and his family decided they had to escape. They are now among at least 800 people who have taken refuge in this UN facility south of Beirut after fleeing fighting between Israel and Hezbollah. Since last week, Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon have killed more than 700 people and forced more than 90,000 from their homes. For Khaled, like many of the people taking refuge here, this is not the first time he has been forced to flee war. In just a few days, hundreds of facilities like this have been set up across Lebanon to house people displaced by violence. Many of the people here are Syrian and Palestinian refugees living in Lebanon. For Imad Ahmed, a Palestinian refugee living in southern Lebanon, this is the third time he has been forced to flee the war with Israel. But this time, he had to do it with his children. Outside, dozens of people hope to get in, but are turned away because the facility does not have the space to accommodate them. The growing number of internally displaced people has worried Lebanese authorities about an impending humanitarian crisis if the fighting continues.
