Responding to cruise demand, the large cruise lines will continue to start new large ships this year, with countless features and amenities aimed at families.
“With every big, broken new launch of ships, we are seeing even more investments in the family market,” said Colleen McDaniel, head of cruise ship Cruise News. “They are no longer cabins for five definition of the final in family friendliness, but now we see real ‘neighborhoods’ dedicated to families.”
MSc’s largest ship, The World America, will start traveling from Miami in April with a family -run area filled with water slides, a ropes, bumper cars, ice rinks and a swing over the water. The Star of the Seas of Royal Caribbean, the 250,800 tonne sister of the world’s largest cruise ship, the seas icon, will start from Port Canaveral, Fla., August. It will have many of the features of the icon: eight “neighborhoods”, six water, seven pools and over 40 food, consumption and entertainment spaces.
Another trend to follow up is the evolution of luxury cruise, which have begun to look like the experience of the boutique hotel. Traditionally, the luxurious cruise has been associated with wording and rich design, but the products offered on luxury ships today are thinner, with increased service and food in a more relaxed atmosphere. The explora Journeys, the luxurious ocean line from MSc cruises with luxury super-yacht-inspired ships, will sail to the Caribbean and Mediterranean this year.
The cruise lines not only broaden their fleets, but they are largely investing in land immovable property to create exclusive experiences of private islands and beach. Royal Caribbean is developing an all-inclusive private beach club in Nassau, the Bahamas, one of the most visitors to the port, scheduled to open in December. With more than 17 acres, it will include a family beach, a beach only for adults, a party and a VIP area with a pool service.
Carnival Corporation also invests expanding the pier to develop a private beach in the Key Celebration area in Grand Bahama, which is to open in July.
