The canned tuna sold in grocery stores in 26 states and Washington, DC, was revoked due to risks for sausages, the food and medicine and third party service said on Friday.
The FDA said the seafood of three unions had voluntarily reminded the tone of “an abundance of attention” after being notified of potential issues with the stamp of the product. The “Easy Open” tab in some products, including those sold in Trader Joe’s and Costco, was defective, which means that the tone could have been infected by Clostridium botulinum, a potentially deadly form of food poisoning.
Here’s what to know.
Which brands are affected and where?
Here is a list of all the products affected. The recall is limited to the selection of many canned tone. Consumers can find these codes at the bottom of the containers and need to check the FDA revocation announcement to see if they match the codes of the products recovered.
What do you need to do if you have the revolted containers?
Pour them out. The botulism toxin cannot see, try or smell, and even a small toxin bite with toxin can be fatal. Contact the store where you purchased the seafood or three unions for a coupon for a replacement product at support@thaiunionhelp.zendesk.com or 833-374-0171.
Recall does not affect other seafood products of three unions.
Has anyone get sick?
No. There have been no diseases associated with the revoked products.
What is Botulism?
Sausing is a disease caused by a toxin that attacks the nerves of the body, paralyzes the muscles and causes difficulty breathing, according to diseases and prevention centers. May be fatal.
Most outbreaks come from homemade products, not from commercially manufactured. Inappropriate or fermented foods can offer the right conditions to grow spores and make botulinum toxin. In case of doubt about whether the food home is safe for food, you should throw it away instead of trying it, says the CDC.
The signs of infection include containers that are damaged or swollen and you should throw away preserved foods that have poor odor. The CDC is a refrigerator canned or cooked food after opening them.
How common are botulism explosions?
Homes are rare, but they may be life -threatening. In 2023, a woman in France died, and at least twelve other people became ill with sausage after eating homemade sardines in a organic wine in central burgundy. In 2019, US Health Departments reported 21 cases of changes transmitted by food to CDC
