Tesla became the last part of Elon Musk’s business empire to make it clear that the CEO’s criticism is unacceptable by the launch of a manager last month after opposing a social media position by Mr Musk mentioned by Nazi leaders.
Jared Ottmann, a manager and engineer who worked with Tesla’s battery suppliers, said he had been fired for criticizing Mr Musk for a position on X that used Nazi names such as Heinrich Himmler and Hermann Göring in a series of words.
“Stop your enemies,” Mr Musk wrote on January 23, adding, “You certainly made Nazis coming.” Took the place with an emoji laughter-white-Crying.
Mr Ottmann told LinkedIn in late January that it was offended that Mr Musk had been referred to “as a joke” to the Nazis who were responsible for the genocide.
“Starting in 2022 and especially in the last week I have raised the issue many times, with the administrators, HR, legal compliance, investor relationships,” Mr Ottmann wrote, referring to Mr Musk’s behavior that he found unacceptable. “And while overwhelming people offer personal support, Tesla as a company remained silent.”
Tesla did not respond to a request for comments.
Mr Musk’s companies, which include Spacex and X, have a history of punishment. In 2022, the SpaceX, which makes rockets, shot nine employees who had called on the company to distance itself from Mr Musk’s social media comments, including one who was ridiculed in sexual harassment against him. Some of these employees later filed charges of unfair work with the National Council of Labor Relations.
Mr Ottmann’s critical observations and Tesla’s reaction are the latest indication of the disorder caused by Mr Musk’s right policy. He has supported a far -right party in Germany, whose members have been fined by the government for the use of Nazi slogans. Mr Musk’s role in Trump’s administration as leader of the Department of Government Efficiency also made him a polarized figure.
The signs of disagreement in Tesla have not been isolated to Mr Ottmann. Last month during a meeting at the Tesla offices in Palo Alto, California, officials redeemed their frustrations about Mr Musk’s political activities, leading a manager to say that he was also discouraged by the behavior of the Managing Director.
Mr Ottmann confirmed on Thursday that he had been fired. He refused to comment further, referring to questions to Jana Moser, a lawyer in Santa Monica, California, Ms Moser did not respond to a request for comments.
This autumn, a SpaceX employee was fired after writing in an internal messaging board that hopes Mr Musk would stop wearing company clothing during the campaigns for Mr Trump, said three people who were familiar with the incident. During an October match at Butler, Pa., For example, Mr Musk wore a “Occupy Mars” t-shirt-which Spacex sells at his company store-as he jumped up and down on stage.
The employee wrote that it would not be suitable for employees to wear political clothing in the office and, therefore, that the company’s clothing should not be worn at campaign events. A few days after its position, the company recalled the employee’s access to internal systems, although later reinstated the employee after determining that there was no violation of the company’s policies, people said.
The employee resigned weeks later. SpaceX did not respond immediately to a request for comments.
Mr Musk has also shooted the X workers who criticized him. Following the acquisition of the company’s $ 44 billion company, he then called on Twitter in 2022, several employees published billionaire reviews on the platform. Mr Musk supported some of them online and later fired.
The fires contradict Mr Musk’s often stated goal of defending freedom of speech. It was offered to fund lawsuits against employers burning workers because of the things they published in X. in 2024, he funded a lawsuit for a former Block Company Payment worker after launching her inflammatory positions in a nickname X.
Investors in Tesla, the only company negotiating in the public managed by Mr Musk, are also concerned that his political activities are alienating some buyers and spending too much time in Washington and is not enough time to drop car sales. The company’s shares have decreased by about 40 % from a high set on December 17th.
