A Chicago International Airport worker was critically injured on Saturday after a vehicle pulling the aircraft and a plane collided, causing the vehicle to be revealed, officials said.
The conflict took place around 7:35 pm Local time, when a Wisconsin aircraft approaching a gate hit the vehicle, which is also known as a trailer, the federal aviation service said.
“The trailer turned, with the driver under it,” the Chicago police station said.
The trailer was driven by a 64 -year -old man suffered head injuries and lower body, police said on Sunday. It was in critical condition to support the Lutheran General Hospital, where it stabilized, police said.
The man was operating the United Airlines trailer, according to the airline.
“We ensure that it receives all necessary support and care,” the airline said in a statement.
Air Wisconsin is a regional airline operating under the American Eagle on Midwest and the east coast for American Airlines, its parent company.
US airlines stated in a statement on Sunday that after attracting the plane, passengers were safely out and transported to a terminal.
The plane, a bomber CRJ-200 that can carry up to 50 passengers, had arrived in Chicago from Kalamazoo-Battle Creek International Airport in Michigan, according to American Airlines. No passengers were injured in the plane.
The Chicago Ministry of Aviation, which manages the airport, said on Sunday that there were no significant impact on businesses in O’Hare due to the collision. The FAA and the Chicago Police Department said they were investigating.
The incident took place a day after a medical plane crashing near a shopping center in northeast Philadelphia, killing all six people on board and one person on the ground, authorities said.
