Since the launch of Chatgpt in 2022 put an artificial intelligence frenzy in Silicon Valley, Google tried to confirm its role as a pioneer AI.
On Wednesday, Sergey Brin, a co-founder of Google, said the company could lead the industry to artificial intelligence-when machinery is matching or becoming smarter than people-if workers worked harder.
“I recommend that you be in the office at least every week,” he wrote in a note published internally on Wednesday night aired by the New York Times. He added that “60 hours a week is the sweet productivity point” in the message to employees working in Gemini, Google’s composition for Google models and applications.
Mr Brin’s note does not represent a change in Google’s official return policy, which requires employees to work in the office at least three days a week. A Google spokesman refused to comment.
Still, the note underlined Mr Brin’s belief that Agi-a long-term goal in the calculation-could be possible. And it sheds more light on how it thinks Google could achieve this technological leap.
“Competition has accelerated too much and the final race for AGI has passed,” he wrote. “I think we have all the ingredients to win this race, but we have to turn our efforts.”
He emphasized the need for Google employees to use more from AI to codify, saying that Improvement of AI would lead to Agi, also called on the Gemini employees to be “the most effective coders and AI scientists in the world using our own AI”
More companies have ordered employees back to the office full -time to improve productivity. In September, Amazon said its corporate employees should return to the office five days a week from 2025. AT&T, JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs have also reversed hybrid work.
Mr Brin returned to Google after the Chatgpt launched, the Times said to help the company browse the difficult time when it lost its advantage to AI (Google had developed numerous technologies that make chatbots such as Chatgpt Adept with things such as poetry and poetry.
In the two years since Mr Brin returned, Google has reorganized its activities, re -examined its AI and started technology in its popular applications – all in an effort to win the race against Openai, Microsoft, Meta and others.
Google releases AI updates to a quick clip, expanding the availability of Gemini 2.0 models to people using the chatbot app with the same name only this month. Mr Brin warned employees not to work more than 60 hours a week, saying he could lead to exhaustion. He also criticized employees who did not contribute enough to efforts.
“Many peoples work less than 60 hours and a small number placed to a minimum to pass,” he wrote. “This last group is not only non -productive. But it can also be extremely disappointing to everyone else.”
