Nearly 30,000 lbs ready for eating beef sticks were recalled on Thursday after consumers complained that they had found metal fragments, food officials and company officials said.
Volunteer recall affects chomps original beef sticks, but the company said in a statement published on the internet on Thursday and Friday that it had included original Turkish sticks and additional lots of products produced by Idaho Smoke associates.
The Food Inspection and Inspection Service, located at the US Department of Agriculture, said in a statement that the Agency was informed of “two consumer complaints that reported that the metal pieces were found in the product”.
The products subject to the withdrawal were packaged in a single installation from January 16 to January 23, according to Chomps. The Food Inspection and Inspection Service said the interrogated items were sent to retail sites in California and Illinois.
The company said Turkey’s products added to the recall had not been included in 29,541 pounds of interrogated beef sticks reported by federal regulators but did not provide weight for the additional data.
There were no confirmed injuries to the consumption of products, the Food Safety and Inspection Service said, adding that anyone who is worried about injury should contact a health care provider.
Consumers who bought the recalled items are called upon to throw them away or return them to the store.
Idaho Smokehouse associates said in a statement on Saturday that after “realizing the two complaints”, “he worked with regulatory authorities to better protect consumers from this issue.”
“We take this action because we are committed to the highest food safety standards for our consumers of our products,” the company added.
Chomps said in a statement on Saturday that the decision to recall the data was “after a thorough investigation conducted alongside our production partner” and under the supervision of the Department of Agriculture.
The company stated that “it has chosen to broaden the scope of recall beyond what is needed, ensuring that all products packaged during this time frame were fully calculated and removed from the market”.
Chomps also said he had added “further securities to prevent this from happening again”.
